Your Sin Will Find You Out
As God was preparing the children of Israel to go in and take possession of the land which God had sworn to their ancestors, Abraham, Issac, and Jacob, a few of the tribes determined that the staging area was suitable for their livestock and asked to remain on the east side of the river. Moses asked them to at least send their men into the promised land with the nation of Israel. Thus they agreed and promised to assist their brethren to take possession of the land. But Moses warned them that if they did not do as they promised, that they would be committing a sin before God and Moses said “But if you will not do so, behold, you have sinned against the LORD and be sure your sin will find you out.” Numbers 32:23
Every time we make a promise to God and fail to keep such promise, we sin against the Lord and our sins find us out. In Galatians 6:7 we read: “Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap” We are deceived when we do not think that God knows what we are doing. When we forget the ever abiding presence of God, and when we forget His all knowing omniscience. We may deceive our friends and loved ones, but we can never deceive God. This one single lesson is forgotten by so many, because so many people sin before God. Some do not care that they sin against God and others are just plain careless in trying to serve God. Do not be guilty of either, for the consequences of our sins are eternal punishment.
Our experience should tell us that when we lie, the lie becomes known eventually. Even if we keep the deception from our loved ones, our own conscience bothers us until we have to let it out. Now, some people do not have a conscience, and lying is not a problem for them.
Remember that Revelation 21:8 teaches that all liars will be cast into the lake of fire and brimstone. Lying is a blight upon our society. But our society seems to accept or tolerate the deceptions given by many. We seem to accept it from our politicians as normal behavior. We ignore the sins of our children when we allow them to lie to us. We even lie ourselves when it works for us. But no matter the lie, your sin will find you out. God is not mocked, and your place in eternity will not be pleasant.
Please stop the lying to God, others, and yourself. Turn to the Lord and be saved.
We know that God is not willing that any perish (2 Peter 3:9). You must believe that Jesus is the Son of God and died on the cross for your sins. (Acts 8:37). You must repent of your sins (Luke 13:3), you must confess Jesus as Lord (Matthew 10:32) and you must be baptized for the remission of sins (Acts 2:38; 22:16). Then you must remain faithful and continue learning how to serve God(2 Peter 3:18). Let us help you on your spiritual journey. May God bless you in your study of His word.
