What Is In Your Toolbox?
A recent advertisement has a similar slogan to get people to realize if what
they have in their wallet is what is best for them. Along a similar line, most
people have tool boxes that they use to accomplish what is best for them. A
carpenter would keep a hammer and saw and other tools. A mechanic would use
different kinds of tools than a plumber to accomplish their specific tasks.
Can you imagine a doctor using a pair of pliers to fix something in your body?
No, but doctors do use tools to help you. Women carry a sort of tool box (purses).
Everyone in every profession needs something to help them perform their job.
Sometimes is it a pencil, or pen. Sometimes it is a computer keyboard, and sometimes
it is their knowledge along with proper tools to do their job.
But let us take a moment to see what God, Satan, and you have in your tool boxes.
In Satan’s tool box we find things like deceit, deception, seduction,
depression, and so forth. Satan’s task is keeping people out of heaven
and he will use any and every method at his disposal to accomplish that task.
God’s tool box is simple. JESUS the CHRIST is all he needs to fix everything.
We find God uses the truth, righteousness, love, and joy and many other things
to help people get to heaven. While both tool boxes are used on people, it is
still the individual that determines what course of action they will take for
their lives, and thus determine their eternal destiny of heaven or hell.
But what do we put in our own tool boxes? Some will borrow the devils tools
to manipulate others or use others for their own gratification or fulfilling
their lusts. Some will borrow some tools from God. These things are patience,
love, compassion, care, and a sense of morality. Sadly, some people try to borrow
from both tool boxes and think that it is OK. It is never right to use the tools
of Satan, and it is always right to use the tools God has instructed us to use.
The Bible is the word of God and we are supposed to handle it properly (2 Timothy
2:15). The proper use of love is described in the Bible (1 John 4). The grace
of God is that which teaches us to obey God and Jesus and the instructions from
the Bible (Titus 2:12-13). Have you considered what is in your tool box? Please
take an inventory.
We know that God is not willing that any perish (2 Peter 3:9). You must believe
that Jesus is the Son of God and died on the cross for your sins. (Acts 8:37).
You must repent of your sins (Luke 13:3), you must confess
Jesus as Lord (Matthew 10:32) and you must be baptized for
the remission of sins (Acts 2:38; 22:16). Then you must remain faithful
and continue learning how to serve God (2 Peter 3:18). Let us help
you on your spiritual journey. May God bless you in your study of His word.
