The Unchanging Christ In A Changing World

I. This is a changing world .
A. The manner of waging war , transportation , household tasks , farming , medicine , radio , television , religion , etc .

II. Human beings have not changed .
A. Still greedy .
B. Same love of preeminence and power ; 3 John 9 .
C. Same love of money ; 1 Tim. 6:9-10 .
D. Same lusts ; 1 John 2:15-17 , Gal. 5:19-21 .
E. Man still needs :

1. Guidance , because he is not able to guide himself . Jeremiah 10:23 I know, O Lord, that a man’s way is not in himself; Nor is it in a man who walks to direct his steps.

2. Salvation because of sin ;
Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, .

3. Encouragement because of weakness ,
Galatians 6:1-2 Brethren, even if a man is caught in any trespass, you who are spiritual, restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness; each one looking to yourself, lest you too be tempted.2 Bear one another’s burdens, and thus fulfill the law of Christ. .

4. Sympathy because of sorrow ,
Romans 12:15 Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep..

5. Hope because of death ,
1 Corinthians 15:19 If we have hoped in Christ in this life only, we are of all men most to be pitied.

III. The unchanging Christ .

A. He does not change . He is from everlasting to everlasting , the Saviour ,
Revelation 1:8 “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”
.
1. He still loves us .

2. He still pleads with us and for us ;
1 John 2:1 My little children, I am writing these things to you that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous;.

3. He still wishes for us to be saved .
John 8:32 and you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”.

4. He will still save if we will obey .
Hebrews 7:24 but He, on the other hand, because He abides forever, holds His priesthood permanently.25 Hence, also, He is able to save forever those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them. .

B. He is still King of Kings and has all authority .
1 Timothy 6:15 which He will bring about at the proper time—He who is the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of kings and Lord of lords;
; Matt. 28:18 .

C. His words are unalterable .
John 12:48 “He who rejects Me, and does not receive My sayings, has one who judges him; the word I spoke is what will judge him at the last day..

D. His conditions of salvation unchangeable . John 3:3-5 , Mark 16:16 , Acts 2:38 .

E. He is still man's only Saviour .
Hebrews 5:8 Although He was a Son, He learned obedience from the things which He suffered.9 And having been made perfect, He became to all those who obey Him the source of eternal salvation,

John 14:6 Jesus *said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but through Me.

F. He still has the same attitude toward :

1. Sin ,
James 1:12 Blessed is a man who perseveres under trial; for once he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life, which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.13 Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am being tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, and He Himself does not tempt anyone.14 But each one is tempted when he is carried away and enticed by his own lust.15 Then when lust has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and when sin is accomplished, it brings forth death.16 Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren.

James 4:17 Therefore, to one who knows the right thing to do, and does not do it, to him it is sin.
.
2. Disbelief ,
John 8:24 “I said therefore to you, that you shall die in your sins; for unless you believe that I am He, you shall die in your sins.” .

3. False doctrine ,
Matthew 15:9 ‘But in vain do they worship Me,
Teaching as doctrines the precepts of men.’” .

4. False bodies ,
Matthew 15:13 But He answered and said, “Every plant which My heavenly Father did not plant shall be rooted up. .

G. He still has the same love for man .
John 15:13 “Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends.

Romans 5:6 For while we were still helpless, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly.7 For one will hardly die for a righteous man; though perhaps for the good man someone would dare even to die.8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.9 Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of God through Him.10 For if while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life.

Conclusion :
There are some things that may change . Man's basic nature does not .
Thankfully our Saviour does not .
You can have the very same salvation those early Christians did , by obeying as they did the very same gospel .
