• Let Your Light Shine
• This is not an option
• Introduction
• In our culture, the word “let” implies a permission to happen,
or an allowance for something to happen.
• In Biblical terminology, the word implies a doing rather than an allowing.
• So this is really not an option as many seem to treat it that way.
• Reason To Let It Shine
• As Christians, it is our duty to set a proper example.
• It is also our duty to show people the way,
• And it is our duty to warn people of the dangers ahead.
• Let It Shine
• Genesis 1:17 “God placed the lights in the expanse of the sky to
shine on the earth”.
• Numbers 6:25 “The LORD make his face to shine upon you, and be gracious
to you”;
• Judges 5;31 “May all your enemies perish like this, O LORD! But
may those who love you shine like the rising sun at its brightest!”
• Let It Shine
• Job 22:28 “Whatever you decide on a matter, it will be established
for you, and light will shine on your ways”.
• Isaiah 58:8 “Then your light will shine like the sunrise; your restoration
will quickly arrive; your godly behavior will go before you, and the LORD’s
splendor will be your rear guard”.
• Isaiah 60:19 “The sun will no longer supply light for you by day
nor will the moon’s brightness shine on you; the LORD will be your permanent
source of light-- the splendor of your God will shine upon you”.
• Let It Shine
• Daniel 12:3 “But the wise will shine like the brightness of the
heavenly expanse. And those bringing many to righteousness will be like the stars
forever and ever”.
• 2 Corinthians 4:6 “For God, who said ‘let light shine out
of darkness,’ is the one who shined in our hearts to give us the light of
the glorious knowledge of God in the face of Christ”.
• Let It Shine
• Ephesians 5:14 “For everything made evident is light, and for this
reason it says: ‘Awake, O sleeper! Rise from the dead, and Christ will shine
on you”.
• Philippians 2:15 “so that you may be blameless and pure, children
of God without blemish though you live in a crooked and perverse society, in which
you shine as lights in the world”.
• Isaiah 2:5
• “Come, house of Jacob, and let us walk in the light of the LORD”.
• The True Light, John 1:6-9
• There came a man, sent from God, whose name was John. He came for a witness,
that he might bear witness of the light, that all might believe through him. He
was not the light, but came that he might bear witness of the light. There was
the true light which, coming into the world, enlightens every man.
• John 8:12
• Again therefore Jesus spoke to them saying, “I am the light of the
world; he who follows Me shall not walk in the darkness, but shall have the light
of life”.
• Ephesians 5:8-10
• “for you were formerly darkness, but now you are light in the Lord;
walk as children of light (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness
and righteousness and truth), trying to learn what is pleasing to the Lord”.
• 1 John 1:5-6
• And this is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you, that
God is light, and in him there is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship
with Him and yet walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth”.
• 1 John 1:7
• But if we walk in the light as He Himself is in the light, we have fellowship
with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.
• Conclusion
• We who are Christians have the light.
• It is our Bibles, our faith, and our LORD.
• Our light is to be a reflection of Jesus Christ.
• God wants everyone to come to the true light.
• Everyone should know where the true light is.
• Once we acquire the light, we must share it.
• Don’t put it under the basket (Matthew 5:15)
• What are you doing with YOUR LIGHT?
