USING YOUR SPIRITUAL OPPORTUNITIES

Every day God opens doors in our lives that allow us to let our light shine. Jesus said: "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven" (Matt. 5:16). There is a harvest right in front of us every day. Everyone we meet needs to know about Jesus Christ and His gospel. Our example, that is the way we live in Christ, is a wonderful spiritual opportunity to reach those who do not have Jesus as their Savior.

Being aware of our opportunities is the first step toward being an active, working member of the body of Christ. Awareness begins with evaluation of our surroundings. We can evaluate our surroundings by making a list or notes about the people we interact with every day. Our work in Christ is all about the people with whom we live and meet each day. We develop a heart or mind dedicated to caring about others. Remember Jesus said: "Let your light shine before men" (Matt. 5:16a)!

Most of us are actively involved with many people during a work day. We have many opportunities to be kind, to offer a friendly smile or a word of encouragement, to give godly advice when asked for an opinion, to see a need and fulfill itr without being asked to do so, or to simply and quietly offer support through our presence during a time of heartache. Always keep these words of Jesus in mind: "that they (men and women with whom we are involved each day) may see your good works" (Matt. 5:16b)!

We have a goal that God has placed before us as we strive to let our light shine before men. It is evident from our text in Matthew chapter five and verse sixteen that our shining light is a reflection of God and His Son. Our desire is to prsonally give God the praise in all that we are blessed to do for Him. We want the spiritual opportunities we have with the people around us to center all attention upon the God of heaven and to give Him all the glory and honor. So Jesus explained the purpose of letting your light shine before men, to "glorify your Father in heaven" (Matt. 5:16c)!

Live Christ and share Christ every day and the God of heaven will be glorified on this earth and in heaven!
