THE SAVIOR LIFTED UP

JOHN 3:14 - “And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be LIFTED UP.”

JOHN 8:28 - Then Jesus said to them, “When you LIFT UP the Son of Man, then you will know that I am He, and that I do nothing of myself; but as My Father taught Me, I speak these things.”

JOHN 12:32 - “And I, if I am LIFTED UP from the earth, will draw all peoples to Myself.”

JESUS WAS LIFTED UP UPON THE CROSS!

Jesus died for the ungodly (ROMANS 5:6), for us (ROMANS 5:8; 1st THESSALONIANS 5:10); for our sins (1st CORINTHIANS 15:3) and for all people (2nd CORINTHIANS 5:14-15). Jesus said, “The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep” (JOHN 10:11). He laid down His life for us (JOHN 10:17-18; 1st JOHN 3:16). He died on the cross of Calvary; called Golgotha (MATTHEW 27:33-35; MARK 15:22-28; LUKE 23:33; JOHN 19:17-30). It was there, where “The Lord laid on Him the iniquity of us all” (ISAIAH 53:6).

JESUS WAS LIFTED UP FROM THE GRAVE!

Joseph of Arimathea (MATTHEW 27:57-60; MARK 15:43-46), along with Nicodemus (JOHN 19:39), took the body of Jesus, wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, and bound it in stripes of linen with spices. They laid Jesus in a tomb in which no one had been laid (JOHN 19:41-42). From there, God raised up Jesus from the dead (ACTS 2:24, 3:15, 3:26, 4:10, 13:30; ROMANS 4:24, 6:4, 6:9, 7:4, 8:11, 10:9; 1st CORINTHIANS 15:15-20; GALATIANS 1:1; EPHESIANS 1:20; 1st PETER 1:21). “Who was delivered up because of our offenses, and was raised because of our justification” (ROMANS 4:25).

JESUS WAS LIFTED UP INTO HEAVEN!

Jesus was received up into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God (MARK 16:19), after He had (by Himself ) made purification for sins (HEBREWS 1:3). While He blessed them (the apostles), He was carried up into heaven (LUKE 24:51). The apostles watched and looked steadfastly up into heaven, as He was taken up; and a cloud received Him out of their sight (ACTS 1:9-11). Two men in white apparel also bore witness; that Jesus was taken up into heaven (ACTS 1:10-11). There were also two men in shining garments (LUKE 24:4), who appeared to some of the disciples, as they were looking for the body of Jesus in the tomb. Those two men said, “Why do you seek the living among the dead” (LUKE 24:5)? Perhaps these were the same two men; appearing on two separate occasions. Only God knows. What is for certain, is that Jesus Christ was lifted up!
