Inspired Witnesses

In Lesson Number Three I pointed out that the Baptism of the Holy Spirit was for (and to) the Apostles, and to them only. It was something "the world could not receive". (John 14: 16-17) and it was to: 1. Teach them ALL things. 2. Remind them of ALL things. 3. Reveal things yet to come. (Things the Lord did not reveal to them in person) 4. Guide them into ALL TRUTH. Furthermore the Lord placed a time limit on this baptism. Shortly before His ascension to heaven he told these Apostles, "For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days hence." (Acts 1: 5)

This proves conclusively that the Baptism of the Holy Spirit was not for all people, for all time to come. People today, who claim to receive the Baptism of the Holy Spirit are claiming something they do not have, and they cannot do the things the Lord told the Apostles they could do when they received it. In addition to guiding these Apostles into all truth, the Holy Spirit would enable them to perform miracles and to give miraculous power to others by the laying on of their hands. I will discuss this in more detail in Lesson Number Five.
