QUALIFICATIONS OF PREACHERS
. 1 Cor. 1:21-31.
1. STUDIOUS: -- "Give heed to reading..." (1 Tim. 4:13). "Study to show thyself approved unto God...rightly dividing the word of truth." (2 Tim. 2: 15).
2. INDUSTRIOUS: -- "A workman that needeth not to be ashamed." (2 Tim. 2:15). "Do the work of an evangelist." (2 Tim. 4:5).
3. DILIGENT: -- "Be diligent in these things." (1 Tim. 4:15). "Be urgent, in season, out of season." (2 Tim. 4:2).
4. CONSCIENTIOUS: -- "Holding faith and a good conscience..." (1 Tim. 1:19).
5. PRAYERFUL: -- "I exhort therefore, first of all, that supplications, prayers, inter- cessions, thanksgivings, be made for all men..." (1 Tim. 2:1).
6. NOT DESPICABLE: -- "Let no man despise thy youth." (1 Tim. 4:12). "Let no man despise thee." (Titus 2:15).
7. CAREFUL: -- "Take heed to thyself, and to thy teaching. Continue in these things; for in doing this thou shall save both thyself adn them that hear thee." (1 Tim. 4:16).
8. PURE: -- "Lay hands hastily on no man, neither be partaker of other men's sins: keep thyself pure." (1 Tim. 5:22). "Follow after righteousness, faith, love, peace with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart." (2 Tim. 2:22).
9. SELF-CONTROLLED: -- "No soldier on service entangleth himself in the affairs of this life; that he may please Him who enrolled him." (2 Tim. 2:4). "Flee youthful lusts..." (2 Tim. 2:22).
10. FOLLOW AFTER: RIGHTEOUSNESS: --
11. GODLINESS: -- "Exercise thyself unto godliness." ( 1 Tim. 4:7).
12. FAITH: -- "Nourished in the words of the faith." (1 Tim. 4:6).
13. LOVE: --
14. PATIENCE: --
15. MEEKNESS: -- "In meekness correcting them that oppose themselves..." (2 Tim. 2:25; 1 Tim. 6:11; 2 Tim. 2:22).
16. PEACE: --
17. BE COURAGEOUS: -- "Them that sin reprove before all, that the rest may be in fear." (1 Tim. 5:20). "War a good warfare..." (1 Tim. 1: 18). "Fight the good fight of the faith." (1 Tim. 6:12).
18. CONFIDENT: -- "Affirm confidently to the end that they who have believed God may be careful to maintain good works." (Titus 3:8).
19. NOT CONTENTIOUS: -- "The Lord's servant must not strive..." (2 Tim. 2:24).
20. BE GENTLE: -- "Be gentle toward all." (2 Tim. 2:24).
21. "APT TO TEACH": -- (2 Tim. 2:24).
22. LONGSUFFERING: -- "Suffer hardship with me, as a good soldier of Christ Jesus." (2 Tim. 2:3). "Suffer hardship with the gospel." (2 Tim. 1:8). "In all longsuffering and teaching." (2 Tim. 4:2).
23. FOREBEARING: -- "Forebearing." (2 Tim. 2:24).
24. IMPARTIAL: -- "Observe these things without prejudice, doing nothing by partiality." (1 Tim. 5:21).
25. NOT ASHAMED: -- "Be not ashamed therefore of the testimony of ur Lord." (2 Tim. 1:8). "A workman that needeth not to be ashamed..." (2 Tim. 2:15).
26. DEVOTED: -- "Be diligent in these things; give thyself wholly to them." (1 Tim. 4: 15).
27. EXAMPLE: -- "In word, in manner of life, in love, in faith, in purity." (1 Tim. 4:12). "Of good works; in thy doctrine showing uncorruptness, gravity, sound speech, that cannot be condemned." (Titus 2:7,8).
CONCLUSION:
Preachers, take these thoughts and apply them to your lives.
