Question: I don't understand why Christians feel that we HAVE TO go to church. I'm a Christian, but I feel that I can communicate with the Lord outside of church. I don't need a building to talk with God. Why go to church is my question? Why??

Answer: Have you ever considered what you miss when you go to church?

You miss being in the company of godly people.

You miss being in the presense of God, because Jesus said where two or three are gathered together...... me, myself, and I does not qualify as three.

You miss the opportunity to encourge your brethren who need encouragement.

You miss the opportunity to be encouraged by other Christians. They understand their responsibility to God and want to do God a good job. You are depriving them of that chance.

You miss the joy at seeing a lost sinner come to the Lord.

You miss the joy of seeing an erring brother repent and change his/her life back to God.

You miss the corporate worship that is commanded by God.

You miss the opportunity to contribute to the needs of the saints, and to share in the evangelism of the church.

You miss a lot by not going to church.

You need to examine yourself as Paul admonished in 2 Cor 13:5. If you consider yourself to be a Christian, then your place is with the saints on the first day of the week as they gather to break bread and learn about serving God.

Remember that Satan has deceived you in this kind of thinking. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Why not go to church this Sunday, and invite the devil to go with you. You will see that he does not hang around in the company of Christians.

Keep studying God's word. (Carey Scott, 7-14-2000, askme.com)
