Question: As per 1 Corinthians 13:12, will every saved person be given the same degree of expanded understanding...or is the new understanding proportional to our deeds and efforts in this life?

Answer: You have part of this right in your understanding, but I think you are approaching it from the wrong direction.

1 Cor 13:12 "For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face; now I know in part, but then I shall know fully just as I also have been fully known."

Paul made many references to the mysteries of the Gospel which had been hidden in ages past but was now made manifest through Jesus Christ and the church.

As the story of God's plan for man unfolded, it was released in stages and steps. Each step taking our (mankind's) understanding a little closer towards God. As we now have the perfect revelation of God that we find in the Bible, we still (as individuals) have not attained to the measure where we should be.
As we study and grow in Christian development, we acquire a greater understanding of God's purpose and our place and part in that purpose.

Our understanding is proportional not according to our deeds which are only a result of what we have learned and submitted to. But is proportional based upon the knowledge (and wisdom) acquired through Bible study and life application of its principles.

Our expanded understanding is necessary in this life so that we may assist God in revealing the truth of His gospel. Once we hear the words which we hope for "enter thou in, thou good and faithful servant", knowledge will cease from our being. It will no longer be necessary. We will be praising God almighty forever and ever and resting from our labors.

Of course this grand picture is only going to be possible to those who serve the Lord in this life and have not defiled their garments.
