The Right Foundation
For a structure to withstand the forces of nature, it must have a solid and
sound foundation. For those skyscrapers, the builders dig deep into the earth
to lay the foundation. Many homes have a different kind of foundation because
the needs are different. As we can understand the necessity of building on the
right foundation, we can apply the principle to spiritual matters as well.
The bible talks about building on the right foundation. In Matthew 6:24-27,
Jesus speaks of two individuals building on different foundations, and the same
storm raged against both. One stood firm, while the other was destroyed. Jesus
was teaching that we need to build on a solid and right foundation.
The Old Testament tells us that God planned to lay a foundation whereby salvation
would come. And of course Jesus was to be the precious and solid cornerstone
of the foundation. Read Psalm 118:22 and Isaiah 28:16.
The gospel writers referenced these two scriptures in their writings about Jesus.
Peter told the Sanhedrin counsel that they had killed the one who became the
very cornerstone (Acts 4:11). The apostle Paul said that God laid the foundation
and other were building upon it, and that foundation was Jesus the Christ (1
Corinthians 3:10,11).
Those who become Christians are described as being built upon the foundation
of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus Himself being the cornerstone (Ephesians
2:19-20). God laid the foundation by the teaching of the prophets and the apostles
and the focus was upon Jesus who built His church upon the fact that He was
the Son of God (Matthew 16:17,18).
Are you building on the right foundation? Let us help you build your security
for the afterlife. Let us help you prepare your destiny.
We know that God is not willing that any perish (2 Peter 3:9). You must believe
that Jesus is the Son of God and died on the cross for your sins. (Acts
8:37). You must repent of your sins (Luke 13:3), you must
confess Jesus as Lord (Matthew 10:32) and you must be baptized
for the remission of sins (Acts 2:38; 22:16). Then you must remain faithful
and continue learning how to serve God (2 Peter 3:18). Let us help
you on your spiritual journey. May God bless you in your study of His word.
