Spiritual Liars
“They profess to know God, but by their deeds they deny Him, being detestable and disobedient, and worthless for any good deed”. (Titus 1:16)
People who claim to be Christians, yet live like the world around them are spiritual liars. Another word would be a hypocrite. Sadly there are many who go to church, but do not live like it impacts their lives. For many people, it would be a surprise to your co-workers if you told them that you go to church at all. Christians are supposed to live exemplary lives, and are to present themselves before God as blameless.
“If we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth;” (1 John 1:6)
Darkness is another word for sin. Since Christians are supposed to be the light of the world (Matthew 5:16), when they continue in sin, they help the non-believers to salve their conscience for not being obedient to God’s laws. Walking in darkness is where the evil like to reside (John 3:19-20) and they practice their sins under the stealth of darkness.
“The one who says,’ I have come to know Him,’ and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him;” (1 John 2:4)
Many claim to know Jesus, but do not live like Jesus is their King and Lord. This means that Jesus directs our steps and everything we say or do. This means that we obey all His commandments.
“Who is the liar but the one who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the anti-christ, the one who denies the Father and the Son.” (1 John 2:22)
The anti-christ is not a person or power, but it is an attitude. Read all four passages that have the word anti-christ, and you will see the nature of those who reject Jesus Christ as Lord and God.
Finally in Revelation 22:8, we read that all liars will be in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone (hell). Lying does not work, does not protect anyone, and does nothing good. There are liars all around us, and their lies will keep them out of heaven. Please
stop lying to yourself, and to those around you. Put Him first in all things. Don’t be a liar. And especially stop being a spiritual liar, because God is not mocked (Galatians 6:6).
We know that God is not willing that any perish (2 Peter 3:9). You must believe that Jesus is the Son of God and died on the cross for your sins. (Acts 8:37). You must repent of your sins (Luke 13:3), you must confess Jesus as Lord (Matthew 10:32) and you must be baptized for the remission of sins (Acts 2:38; 22:16). Then you must remain faithful and continue learning how to serve God (2 Peter 3:18). Let us help you on your spiritual journey. May God bless you in your study of His word.
