No Fear Of God
There are two ways of looking at the statement in our title today. One way to
perceive it is that if you are faithful and doing what is right, you do not
need to fear the wrath of God. Yet another way to perceive this statement is
that some do not fear (or reverence) God as they should. Psalm 36:1 reads: “Transgression
speaks to the ungodly within his heart; there is no fear of God before his eyes.”
That is very true and it shows by the way people behave and act.
When people reject God’s word as recorded in the Bible, they do not show
reverence for God. That is what Ecclesiastes 12:13 is teaching us: “the
whole duty of man (everyone) is to fear God and keep His commandments”.
The reason this is important is recorded in verse 14. It is because we will
be judged one day by what we do in our lives.
There are some people who think and act like they fear God, but they fail to
keep His commandments. The Bible is specific that if we want to enter the kingdom
of heaven,
we had better keep His commandments (Matthew 7:21). And 1 John 5:3 tells us
that His commandments are not burdensome (or grievous). Of
course, if your mind is set on the things of the world, you might consider God’s
commandments as too much to do or too hard to keep. But if your mind is focused
on things above (Colossians 3:1-2), you find that keeping God’s commands
is no problem at all, in fact you even will learn to enjoy doing what the Lord
commands.
We know that God is not willing that any perish (2 Peter 3:9). You must
believe that Jesus is the Son of God and died on the cross for your
sins. (Acts 8:37). You must repent of your sins (Luke 13:3),
you must confess Jesus as Lord (Matthew 10:32) and you must
be baptized for the remission of sins (Acts 2:38; 22:16). Then
you must remain faithful and continue learning how to serve
God(2 Peter 3:18). Let us help you on your spiritual journey. May God bless
you in your study of His word.
