I LOVE JESUS, BUT ...
The majority of people in our nation still believe in Jesus Christ. If you were to ask them: "Do you love Jesus?" they would say: "Oh yes, I love Jesus."
BUT
They do not love the Bible
They do not love the church
They do not love worship
They do not love Christian service
They do not love fellowship with God's people
They do not love evangelism
They do not love mission work
They do not love visiting the sick
They do not love Bible classes
They do not love abstaining from sin
They do not love keeping the Lord's commandments

BUT, they say they love the Lord (?)
In essence, they are saying: "I love the Lord, but I want nothing to do with Him." I do not want to listen to Him, help Him, serve Him, promote Him, honor Him, obey Him, or sacrifice for Him in any way.

But, they expect Him to be there for them.
He is to help them with their problems.
He is to save them from their sins.
He is to answer all of their prayers.
He is to heal them when they are sick.
He is to make their lives bountiful.
He is to give them a home in heaven.

Dear friends, there is something extremely wrong about this type of love.
It is easy.
It is convenient.
It is satisfying.
It eases the conscience.
It allows one to boast.
But, it is not really love.

The definition of true love is a divine Savior suffering in pain and agony on a cross while being rejected by those He came to save, by those He deeply loved. Jesus' love cost Him something. If our love for Him is not costing us something, it is not really love.
"But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son; much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life" (Rom. 5:8-10).
